Vlevy operates from a purpose-built factory, opened in 2007, just outside the scenic city of Ghent, Belgium. It specialises in the production of cooked, air-dried and reformed meat products for the pizza and manufacturing market, including ham, pepperoni, cooked chorizo and meatballs. These can be supplied in whole, sliced, julienne, or diced formats. All products are capable of being individually quick frozen and portion-controlled for ease of application.
Vlevy offers a range of new products for today’s catering and convenience market. Experience which has been passed from generation to generation is a source of inspiration in developing new products. Our sales team is continuously checking the market for product ideas and we can react quickly to our customers’ product requirements.
In 1981, Eduard Ysebaert started up a butchery in the Netherlands’ Terneuzen. He called it VLEVY, taking the initials of ‘Vleeswaren Van Ysebaert’ (translated as ‘meat products of the Ysebaert family’). In 1935, the second generation took over and established a new plant in Belgium, increasing the product range. The third generation came in 1961, and in 1974, the production of a whole new range of vacuum-packed cooked ham began. A new range of convenience products was launched in 2000. The company is now managed by the fourth generation, which saw the start of operations of the latest plant in 2007.
